In defence of SPG
Taking into consideration Astrid's detailed explanation of SPGs, I came to a conclusion that SPGs cannot be blamed for being who/what they are. Don't be too quick to judge them. They are merely products of our society. How do I say this?
Look around us. Our colonial history is clearly and unashamedly celebrated in our society. The preservation of colonial buildings (see Singapore History Museum, The Arts House, Parliament (ok, the old one), etc) over our more traditional buildings (eg. shophouses, etc) is just one example that proves that our colonial roots take priority over our native ones. In history textbooks, Raffles takes precedence (and more space) than (I don't know) Sang Nila Utama.
Having been brought up in this sort of backgrounding (how are we to call ourselves even remotely post-colonial?), how can we not deny that The White Man is better than us (the Chinese, the Malays, the Indians, natives...)? Our education system was based upon the British one, and even though it's changing, it's changing to match up to the American one. NUS is now ANUS, the transformation from pax Britannia to pax Americana. (LOL). You get the idea.
If The White Man brought to us modernisation (Raffles 'founded' 'modern Singapore') and proved to be the catalyst that catapulted Singapore into first-world economy status (nevermind LKY and the PAP), he is obviously revered here in this society. You can't blame the SPGs for wanting to snag a white man. Why not, when they're so obviously the superior race, the superior society that's so celebrated here in Singapore?
Our ambitions to be first world (university, arts centre, economy, etc) are modelled after the British and the Americans. We celebrate European and American name brands over Asian, and even our own. How many of us simply consider Mac/Apple products to be better than Creatives' simply because it's not a local product? Local stuff suck, right? So why should our women want local men? Why shouldn't women want something they perceive to be better?
My conclusion is that we can't blame SPGs for wanting what they've been taught to want, for reaching for what they've been taught is better, even if they're not as discerning in their choices. We're all myopic in some way or another, and our excuse is - we don't know any better.

Valentines Day Romantic and Affordable.
Here at ONzLAH, We recommend meaningful and affordable ways to be romantic with your love ones.
1) Breakfast in bed.
*Kids under the age of 21 should not try this*
Make your love one Breakfast and enjoy breakfast in bed. Nothing is more loving than the very important meal of the day made by their loved ones.
2) A wonderful warm oil massage.
Oooo kinky.
*KIDS UNDER THE AGE OF 21 SHOULD NOT TRY THIS EVER!"
Try giving your love one a surprice and sooth him or her with a Warm oil massage. Why spend hundreds of dollars in the SPA when you can spend a few bucks getting affordable massage oils from the local pharmacy.
3) Have a Picnic.
Try having a picnic. Local reservoirs or the beach offers a stunning sight in the evening or early mornings. Homemade sandwiches goes well with such settings.
4) A walk in the kampung.
Visit the local farms like Bollywood Veggies or D'Kranji. Learn the way of simplicity with your love one.
5) House work?
Sounds cheap but when was the last time you ever do the chores together with your love ones.
6) Relive the memories.
Take out that old photo album of your memories. Relive that loving memory of courtship. An excellent choice.
7) Grow your own rose.
Buy roses? Why buy when you can grow a pot at your own door step? Grow a pot of mini roses and you should start having Valenties Day roses for the rest of your life for FREE.
8) Make a simple gift from recycle materials.
Cheap? No, we call that environmentally friendly. Make something pratical out of recycled stuff. It's not the price tag but the love and the thoughts that counts.
9) Cook a meal!
Challenge each other in the cook a meal contest. Cook two dishes each with whatever you can find in the fridge. Nothing beats good cooking and good food.
10) IF ANY KIDS ARE READING THIS, THEY SHOULD CLOSE THIS BROWSER NOW.
Answer the government's call and make some babies! It may not cost anything this Valentines Day but it will definately cost you something in the long run. Good or bad, you decide.
** The above are only suggestions by the Crew of ONzLAH. Any children under the age of 21 should seek parental advise before trying any of the suggestions mentioned. Have a Happy Valentines Day!
** Forgot to mention that ONzLAH will not be responsible for any failed attempts of the above suggestions. We will also not be responsible for any babies created should readers decide to pretrial suggestion number 10.

Bollywood Veggies
On 17th Jan 2009, Saturday. ONzLAH decided to make another attempt to visit the said Bollywood Veggies. YES! WE DID MAKE IT THERE! ALIVE!
Singapore being a small island. A really, really small island which lacks space, Farmlands are really scarce on this tiny island. Pratically near to non-existance as farm produce is not one of Singapore's proud exports.
Bollywood Veggies do offer the good ol plantation feel at our very own little island.ORGANIC and Earth Friendly products are perhaps the key words to use of this excursion. It's all about ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLINESS over at Bollywood Veggies.
Enjoy taking a walk among the vegetation or sit by the fish pond and listen to the bird calls. Bananas? There are tons of bananas at Bollywood Veggies that will make you go bananas.
For the more adventurous, try locating the hideout of Mas Selamat in the beautifully created marshlands. (We will not tell you where...)
When you are done with all the walking and hunting, take a break at Poison Ivy Bistro. We assure you that the restaurant will not set poison to your food. Most of the food in this restaurant are produce from this very farm, so you are tasting the freshest cooking next to having to pluck them from the trees yourself.
How to get there? It took us sometime to figure out how to get there ourselves.
Bollywood Veggies is located at 100 Neo Tiew Road.
DRIVERS
If you drive, Take the PIE (Pan Island Expressway)towards Tuas EXIT 36 but keep right towards Kranji and follow the sign for Hay Dairies / Sungei Buloh Wetland Sanctuary.
Continue driving until you have passed the Civil Defence Academy (Jln Bahar), graveyards and the Lim Chu Kang road narrows. After you have passed the SAF Armour Camp (Sungei Gedong), slow down and turn right into Neo Tiew Road and head towards lamp-post 102.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT
If you are taking the public transport, please note that our Singapore WORLD CLASS public transport system do not really go into roads that do not make them any money.
Here are two alternatives:
Alternative 1

Alternative 2
Take a MRT to Yew Tee MRT Station. Take a D'Kranji shuttle service to D'Kranji Chalet. You will see Bollywood Veggies on your left.
